What is Reiki
Reiki means universal (“rei”) life force (“ki”) in Japanese

Reiki is a holistic healing practice developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Reiki is the most widely practiced healing technique today. Drawing from ancient traditions, Reiki is a hands on technique when done in person but can also be sent distantly to a client anywhere in the world. Reiki uses life-force energy to heal and balance the subtle body. Reiki addresses any imbalances that may be felt physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Universal life force or energy is channelled through the Reiki practitioners hands to areas of the client’s body where it is needed. Giving and receiving Reiki is gentle, nurturing and relaxing. Reiki’s purpose is to heal for the “highest good” and connects with the force of unconditional love. As a non-invasive form of energy healing, Reiki soothes away troubles and trauma in a peaceful way. It is particularly effective for treating stress-related conditions, such as insomnia, fatigue, tension headaches, etc. Certain hand positions over the chakras and on other areas on the body are used to dissolve energy blocks and to rebalance the body. Reiki also clears the aura around the body. Done regularly, Reiki can protect the body against illness and negative influences as it helps to realign the human energy system with the healing vibrations of love and light.

For a further enhanced Reiki session I incorporate Karuna Reiki. Karuna means ‘compassionate action’ and originates from a Sanskrit word. It is a higher more advanced form of Reiki and assists to heal deeply and gently for a deeper physical and emotional healing.

Because of the gentle nature of Reiki and it’s holistic benefits, it is performed not only on adults but children and animals too. Reiki can be used alongside conventional medicine.

During a Reiki session the client is fully clothed and only needs to remove shoes and any jewellery and or belts.
